PATH is a reformist, revolutionary Beijing-born menswear label (read: all-inclusive mancave) under the guiding hand of German designer Janine Grosche. The daredevil brand delivers a futuristic version of what masculinity means by re-viewing men’s fashion as catwalks generally stomp it.
Boundary-pushing at its finest, PATH pioneers a radically different aesthetic for men, one in defiance of all convention regarding materials, construction, and (gender) expectations.
“Choose Positively”. On this upbeat branding note, all PATH pieces are made with non-discriminating love – and a low ecological footprint in mind. Wise choice, too.
The SS20 “em·bod·i·ment” collection explores the concepts of masculinity, vulnerability, and wellness.
Grosche in this collection has incorporated constructional elements sourced from therapeutic garments and compression wear.
The borderline sense of design dystopia (at its coolest) dives into the cross-cultural influences garnered from the creator’s time spent in China, as well as the traditional holistic approaches to the concept of the human body including energy lines, acupuncture| acupressure, and healing.
Fused into a series of modern hybrids, the garments feature reinforced padding created from foam implants. Rethinking the idea of body modification and body posture, the embedded implants apply both subtle pressure and support to padded areas such as the back.
Other pieces take visual cues from body mapping, acupuncture, and heat mapping. Grosche describes these gems as ‘AWARE-ABLES’.
SS20 provides menswear for the critically awakened and conscious and represents a new era of intelligent, healing, more inclusive clothing.

The SS19 collection, inspired by the Chinese idiom 身体力行 / PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH, homes in on the racing and wet gear game, introducing a bright green into the PATH color scheme, paired with bold black and gutsy vibrant indigo. SS19 encapsulates a world of heavy graphic #pathwear logo prints as shown on tops, long sleeves, and oversized nylon shoppers.
The implant-like integrated padded foam details across the shoulder areas and the back of the tops, stem from the conceptions of human hybrids, bio-hacking, and AI.
Grosche studied fashion design at the former ESMOD Berlin school – the International University of Art for Fashion — and in 2007 graduated.
During her last year in the program, Grosche opted to hone her menswear skills and designed a collection that ran on to show during China Fashion Week in Beijing at the Hempel Award China, aka the China International Young Fashion Designers Contest. During that experience, she fell in love with Beijing as a city. And decided to stay.
Out of all the above was born PATH, kicking into gear with its very first collection out and about for SS15. Black, white, and edge. The future is now.
